Looking forward to DECA this upcoming school year? Interested in leading & serving Washington State's largest DECA chapter? Thinking about applying for a position on the Skyline DECA Executive Board? Then read on!
Due to the extended school closure, we are going to follow Skyline ASB's recommendation to hold our DECA Executive Board elections in the fall. However, to ensure readiness for elections in September, we're sharing information now. We've made some changes to how the Executive Board and elections are structured; see below.
First, we restructured the Executive Board. It's made up of 1 President with 5 Vice Presidents, each who will manage a different functional area of the chapter: VP of Finance, VP of Communications, VP of Public Relations, VP of Membership, and VP of Logistics. See the attached document that outlines requirements of all Executive Board members as well as job duties for each particular role.
We also revised the election process. Here's what it will look like this fall and moving forward: the appointment of the President will take place first, through an application and interview process with the Advisors (no chapter vote). After appointment of the President, those that apply to each of the 5 VP positions will be shortlisted through an application and interview process with the Advisors & newly appointed President. The final contenders for each VP position will record a speech which will be shown to chapter members in class, and then all chapter members will submit a vote for each VP position. More information regarding the application, interview, and selection processes to come in September!
If you are interested in applying for one of the Executive Board positions this coming fall, fill out this Interest Form! No commitment needed, no strings attached; it's purely a survey to help us Advisors gauge interest. If you think you want to run for a position but aren't sure which one, fill out this form and an Advisor will reach out with recommendations!
Let me know if you have any questions about the DECA Executive Board and/or the election process!
